Kassadin in League Classic: Legacy Kit and Changes

Classic Kassadin’s Null Sphere silences instead of only interrupting, and Patch 26.21 buffed both his Q and Riftwalk. Here is what the notes show and how it compares to the live kit.

Kassadin in League Classic at a glance

Kassadin in League Classic is the anti-mage assassin you know, built around Null Sphere and Riftwalk, but his Q carries a silence rather than the live game’s channel interrupt. That is the first thing a live player feels: a landed Q takes the target’s spells away for a real window, not just their channel.

He was in the mode as of Patch 26.21, and that same patch gave him a buff to both Null Sphere and Riftwalk. For the rest of the roster, see our list of League Classic champions.

The Classic kit

The Classic notes we have do not include a full legacy ability text for Kassadin, so this section covers only what his balance entry reveals. He has been in the mode since Patch 26.21, the first Classic patch in our records, and that entry touches two abilities.

  • Q – Null Sphere: a targeted damage spell that also silences. After the 26.21 buff it deals 80 / 130 / 180 / 230 / 280 base damage, and the silence grows with each rank from 1s up to 2.6s at rank 5.
  • R – Riftwalk: his short-range teleport that damages enemies where he lands. Its ability power ratio now sits at 80%, so it rewards AP more heavily than before the buff.
  • Passive, W and E: the Classic entries say nothing about Void Stone, Nether Blade or Force Pulse, so there is no confirmed legacy wording for them on this page.

The card below shows Riot’s own lines for the Classic version.

How it differs from today’s Kassadin

The clearest gap between classic Kassadin and the live champion is Null Sphere. Today’s Q damages a target, interrupts channels and wraps Kassadin in a shield that soaks magic damage. The Classic Q adds a silence that scales with rank, which shuts down every spell the target has, not only a channel in progress.

In practice, a max-rank Classic Q stops a mage from answering for 2.6s. That is long enough to walk in, auto with Nether Blade and Riftwalk out before they can cast back. The Classic notes do not mention the magic shield, so do not count on it until you see it in game.

Riftwalk keeps its name and role in both versions: a blink that damages nearby enemies on arrival. The live description adds stacking, where repeated casts in a short window cost more mana and deal more damage. The Classic entry only lists the AP ratio, so it neither confirms nor rules out that stacking behavior.

For Void Stone, Nether Blade and Force Pulse, the Classic notes give nothing to compare. That is not proof they match the live kit, only that no Classic entry has changed them. If you want the live version broken down, the Kassadin guide covers today’s kit, and Kassadin stats and builds holds data for the live game only.

Good to knowNo Classic build data

League Classic has no statistics, so there is no Classic Kassadin build, rune page or tier to report. Anything on our live pages applies to Summoner’s Rift as it plays today, not to this mode.

Classic patch history

Classic Kassadin has had one balance entry so far: a buff in Patch 26.21 that reverses every nerf he received before the mode launched. Null Sphere got more base damage at every rank and a longer silence from rank 2 onward, while Riftwalk’s AP ratio went from 70% to 80%. The intent was to restore him to full strength now that he no longer draws the ban attention he was expected to.

MID.GG analysis

Null Sphere becomes a far more dangerous opener: more base damage at every rank and a silence that reaches 2.6s at max rank, enough to cover a full trade against a caster. The Riftwalk ratio rising from 70% to 80% pushes more of his burst onto ability power, so his damage spike arrives harder once he has AP. Expect Classic Kassadin to feel closer to the full-power version the mode was built around.

The practical effect is a stronger mid-game spike. Each Q rank now adds noticeably more silence than before, so ranking it up changes how safe it is to commit into a caster. The higher Riftwalk ratio means every point of AP turns into more burst on landing. Track future Classic changes in our patch notes.

Frequently asked questions

What is different about Kassadin in League Classic?

Classic Kassadin’s Null Sphere silences its target, scaling from 1s at rank 1 to 2.6s at rank 5, while the live Q only interrupts channels and grants a magic shield. His Riftwalk also uses an 80% ability power ratio after the Patch 26.21 buff. The Classic notes do not describe changes to his passive, W or E.

Is the Null Sphere silence back in League Classic?

Yes. In League Classic, Kassadin’s Q, Null Sphere, silences the target instead of only interrupting channels. After the Patch 26.21 buff, the silence lasts 1 / 1.4 / 1.8 / 2.2 / 2.6 seconds by rank, and the ability deals 80 / 130 / 180 / 230 / 280 base damage. That makes it a strong tool against mages.

When did Kassadin arrive in League Classic?

Kassadin was in League Classic as of Patch 26.21, the first Classic patch in our records for him. That same patch also gave him a buff, reverting every nerf he received before the mode launched. His Null Sphere damage and silence went up, and Riftwalk’s ability power ratio rose from 70% to 80%.

Is there a Kassadin classic build or tier list?

No. League Classic has no statistics of any kind, so there are no win rates, builds, runes or tiers for Classic Kassadin. Any build or rune data you find on live-game pages reflects Summoner’s Rift as it plays today, and it may not suit the Classic kit, which silences with Null Sphere and has different tuning.
