Lucian in League Classic: Legacy Kit and Changes

Classic Lucian keeps the double-shot but loses the dash resets live players rely on. Here is the legacy kit, how it compares with today’s Lucian, and his Classic patch history.

Lucian in League Classic at a glance

Classic Lucian is the original double-shot marksman. He weaves abilities between attacks for burst, but his dash plays by older rules. The first thing a live player notices is that Relentless Pursuit does not come back faster when you land Lightslinger shots. Outside of kills during his ultimate, you wait out the full cooldown.

Lucian arrived in League Classic in Patch 26.21. He joined the wider roster of League Classic champions that bring older kits back to Summoner’s Rift.

The Classic kit

The legacy kit has the same five ability names as today’s Lucian, and most of them do what you expect. The differences sit in the details, mostly on his E. Here is each ability in plain terms:

  • Passive, Lightslinger: every ability you cast turns your next basic attack into two shots. That is the whole passive. No extra trigger is attached.
  • Q, Piercing Light: a shot that travels in a line and hits every enemy along it. You use it to poke past the minion wave.
  • W, Ardent Blaze: a missile that bursts in a cross pattern, dealing damage and marking whoever it hits. When you damage a marked enemy, you gain extra move speed.
  • E, Relentless Pursuit: a dash that also strips every slow on Lucian. It does not reset your attack timer. Its cooldown only refreshes when you kill a champion while The Culling is active.
  • R, The Culling: a rapid stream of shots fired in a straight line. You can keep moving while it fires, and you can dash with Relentless Pursuit mid-channel.
