Nautilus in League Classic: Legacy Kit and Changes

Classic Nautilus joined League Classic in Patch 26.20 with a buff built around Titan’s Wrath and two bug fixes. Here is what the notes say about his legacy kit and how it compares to the live champion.

At a glance

Nautilus in League Classic is the anchor-throwing tank you know from the live game, played with his legacy kit. He arrived in the mode in Patch 26.20, and that patch is also where his only Classic balance entry sits. If you play him today, the first thing you notice is how much of his Classic tuning centers on Titan’s Wrath, his W shield, rather than his hook or ultimate.

Nautilus is one of several returning picks covered in our League Classic champions overview, and the mode publishes no statistics of any kind.

The Classic kit

The Classic patch notes for Nautilus do not include an arrival entry that spells out the full legacy ability text. What you can read about the kit comes from the Patch 26.20 entry, which touches two abilities. Patch 26.20 is the first Classic patch on record for him, so treat it as his starting point in the mode.

  • Passive, Staggering Blow: his empowered basic attack is the core of the passive. The Classic notes reveal it can critically strike, and that it had been dealing more crit damage than intended before the fix.
  • W, Titan’s Wrath: a shield that scales with bonus health, plus damage over time applied through his attacks while it holds. Its damage over time scales with 40% AP, and the shield now accounts for his armor and magic resist after a bug fix.
  • Q, E and R: the Classic notes say nothing about Dredge Line, Riptide or Depth Charge, so there is no documented legacy detail for them yet.

How it differs from today’s Nautilus

The clearest differences are in the two abilities the Classic notes cover; for the rest, the notes give no evidence either way. Compare against the live kit in our Nautilus guide if you want the full current picture.

Passive: Staggering Blow

Live Staggering Blow makes his first attack on a target deal extra physical damage and root them briefly. The live description does not mention critical strikes at all. The Classic version clearly interacts with crit, since the 26.20 fix trims how hard that empowered attack crits. The notes do not say whether the root behaves the same, so do not assume it differs.

W: Titan’s Wrath

The shape is the same in both versions: a temporary shield, with attacks dealing damage over time to his target and nearby enemies while it lasts. The Classic version is defined by its own numbers. After Patch 26.20, the damage over time runs 40 / 65 / 90 / 115 / 140 + 40% AP, the shield takes 15% of his bonus health, and the duration sits at 10. The live description gives no figures, so a direct number-for-number comparison is not possible from the facts.

Q, E and R

Dredge Line, Riptide and Depth Charge carry the same names in Classic as in the live game, and no Classic entry describes or changes them. On live, Dredge Line pulls Nautilus and an enemy together or drags him to terrain, Riptide sends out three slowing waves, and Depth Charge chases a target, knocking up enemies along its path before stunning the target. Until a Classic entry says otherwise, there is no documented difference to report.

Good to knowWhy Titan's Wrath is the focus

The Patch 26.20 reasoning frames the W changes as restoring strength he had early in his lifetime, aimed at making him a more willing frontline in fights. That is why the Classic kit leans on the shield and its damage rather than his crowd control.

Nautilus League Classic patch history

Classic Nautilus has one balance entry so far, a buff in Patch 26.20. It fixed two bugs: the passive’s empowered attack critting too hard, and the W shield ignoring his armor and magic resist. On top of the fixes, Titan’s Wrath gained damage at every rank above the first, a larger bonus health ratio on the shield and a slightly longer duration. The stated aim was to lift him in jungle and top in particular, with support the third role he was struggling in. Full notes sit on our patch notes page.

MID.GG analysis

The patch turns Titan’s Wrath into the center of Classic Nautilus: the shield now respects his resistances and scales harder with bonus health, and its damage over time climbs steeply with rank. That rewards putting him in the middle of extended fights rather than only landing a hook and backing off. The passive crit fix is a small trim that removes an unintended damage spike from his empowered attack.
