Evelynn in League Classic: Legacy Kit and Changes

Evelynn is in League Classic from Patch 26.22, and her one documented Classic change so far is a buff to Hate Spike’s base damage. Here is what the notes cover and how it sets her apart from the live game.

At a glance

Evelynn in League Classic is the mode’s older take on the stealthy jungle assassin, and the clearest documented difference from the live game sits on her Q, Hate Spike, whose base damage the Classic notes set rank by rank. She appears in League Classic from Patch 26.22, the earliest Classic patch on record for her, and that same patch gave her a buff.

Riot’s Classic entries for her cover a single ability so far. Everything below sticks to what those entries state, set against her live kit for comparison.

The Classic kit

Only one ability of Classic Evelynn’s kit appears in the notes: Hate Spike. No entry introducing her legacy kit is in our records, so treat her as present in League Classic from Patch 26.22, the first Classic patch we have for her.

What the notes do pin down is Hate Spike’s base damage across its five ranks. After Patch 26.22, it starts at 40 at rank 1 and climbs in even steps to 120 at rank 5. Each rank beyond the first now adds a larger chunk of base damage than before, so the gap over the old values widens the more points the ability has.

Her passive, W, E and R have no Classic entry yet, so their legacy behavior is not documented here. Riot’s own line for the Hate Spike change is shown on the card below.

How it differs from today’s Evelynn

The only documented gap between Classic and live Evelynn is on Hate Spike, and even there the comparison is partial. Live Hate Spike lashes the first unit in its path, then lets her fire lines of spikes at nearby enemies a few more times. The Classic notes give base damage values but no mechanics, while the live description gives mechanics but no numbers, so a like-for-like damage comparison is not possible from these sources.

For the rest of the kit, the Classic entries say nothing yet. The live versions, for reference:

  • Passive, Demon Shade: out of combat, she enters a state that heals her when low on health and adds Camouflage after level 6. No Classic difference is documented.
  • W, Allure: curses a target so her next attack or spell, after a delay, charms them and lowers their magic resist. No Classic difference is documented.
  • E, Whiplash: a Lasher strike that deals damage, then a short burst of Move Speed. No Classic difference is documented.
  • R, Last Caress: a brief untargetable window, heavy damage in a cone in front of her, then a long backward warp. No Classic difference is documented.

No documented difference is not the same as identical: the notes simply have not covered these abilities. For how the live kit plays on Summoner’s Rift, see the Evelynn guide.

League Classic has no win rates, pick rates, builds or rune data. The live-game Evelynn stats page reflects regular Summoner’s Rift play only and does not describe the Classic version.

Classic patch history

Classic Evelynn has had one balance change since arriving: a Patch 26.22 buff to Hate Spike’s base damage at ranks 2 through 5, with rank 1 left as it was. The entry frames it as a reversal of an earlier damage cut, meant to pull her back level with the other junglers in the mode. No nerfs or further adjustments have followed yet; check the patch notes hub for later Classic entries.

Evelynn

Buffed
Riot’s reasoning

The Hate Spike damage increase reverses an earlier cut because Evelynn had become one of the weaker junglers in the mode.

MID.GG analysis

The buff leaves rank 1 untouched, so her opening clear and level 1 damage are unchanged, but every later rank of Hate Spike hits harder, peaking at 20 extra base damage at rank 5. The payoff grows as she puts points into Q, which favors her mid-game clears and skirmishes over her earliest moments. It is the only Classic tuning she has received so far.

Frequently asked questions

What is different about Evelynn in League Classic?

The documented difference is Hate Spike, her Q. League Classic notes set its base damage at 40, 60, 80, 100 and 120 across its five ranks after a Patch 26.22 buff. Riot’s Classic entries so far do not cover her passive, W, E or R, so no other differences are documented yet.

When did Evelynn arrive in League Classic?

Evelynn is in League Classic from Patch 26.22, the earliest Classic patch on record for her. That same patch also brought her first Classic balance change, a buff to Hate Spike’s base damage at higher ranks. No entry describing her full legacy kit appears in the Classic notes available so far.

Is there a Classic Evelynn build?

No. League Classic has no statistics of any kind, so there are no win rates, builds or rune pages to draw from for Classic Evelynn. Any build presented as a Classic standard is guesswork. Live-game Evelynn build pages describe the regular Summoner’s Rift version only, not the Classic one.

Did Classic Evelynn get buffed?

Yes. In Patch 26.22, Classic Evelynn’s Hate Spike base damage rose from 40/55/70/85/100 to 40/60/80/100/120. Rank 1 is unchanged, and each later rank gains more, up to 20 extra at rank 5. The change reverses an earlier damage cut so she can keep pace with other junglers in the mode.
