Nami in League Classic: Legacy Kit and Changes

Classic Nami is the pre-Preseason Four version of the tidecaller, tuned toward damage in Patch 26.22. Here is what the League Classic notes say about her kit and how it compares to live Nami.

At a glance

Nami in League Classic is the tidecaller as she played before the Preseason Four support update. If you know her from the live game, the first thing you notice is how much damage her spells carry. Aqua Prison scales far harder with ability power, and Ebb and Flow keeps more of its damage as it bounces.

Nami arrived in League Classic in Patch 26.22, and that same patch holds her only Classic balance entry so far. For the full roster and how the mode works, see our list of League Classic champions.

The Classic kit

Our records hold no full legacy ability text for Classic Nami, so the picture comes from her Patch 26.22 entry. That entry touches two abilities, and it shows clearly which way her Classic identity leans: toward landing your spells and turning them into real damage.

  • Q, Aqua Prison: the bubble is her main damage tool in Classic. After Patch 26.22 it deals 90 / 145 / 200 / 255 / 310 base damage with a 100% AP ratio, so every point of ability power shows up in the hit.
  • W, Ebb and Flow: the stream bounces between allies and enemies, and its damage drops with each bounce. In Classic that drop is now 15% per bounce, and the healing drop per bounce sits at 15% too. Damage and healing now fall off at the same rate.
  • E, passive and R: the Classic notes say nothing about Tidecaller’s Blessing, Surging Tides or Tidal Wave. Treat them as unconfirmed rather than identical to live until an entry describes them.

How it differs from today’s Nami

The clearest difference is intent. Live Nami is built around utility. Her passive gives allies Move Speed, her E empowers a teammate’s attacks and spells, and her ultimate doubles that Move Speed for allies it hits. Classic Nami, as the notes tune her, is pushed toward dealing damage herself. You can read the live kit in detail in our Nami guide.

Aqua Prison: the live version is a bubble that damages and stuns enemies where it lands. The Classic entry gives exact damage values and a heavy AP ratio. The live summary lists no numbers, so the notes cannot confirm how the two compare per rank. Expect the Classic bubble to reward you for building toward damage and landing it.

Ebb and Flow: both versions send water back and forth between allied and enemy champions, healing one side and hurting the other. The Classic notes spell out a per-bounce reduction to both damage and healing. The live summary does not mention one either way, so the bounce behavior is the part to test in your first games.

Surging Tides, Tidecaller’s Blessing and Tidal Wave: no Classic entry covers these, so there is no confirmed difference from the live versions. Go by what you see in game rather than assuming the live tooltips carry over.

Classic patch history

Classic Nami has one balance entry, a Patch 26.22 adjustment. It raised Aqua Prison’s base damage and AP ratio and halved Ebb and Flow’s damage loss per bounce, from 30% to 15%. With no older balance history for her pre-Preseason Four kit, these were new numbers rather than a return to old ones. The changes also nod toward trying her in mid lane. Future changes will appear in our patch notes.

Nami

Adjusted
Riot’s reasoning

The changes give a struggling Classic Nami new damage-focused numbers, since her pre-Preseason Four kit had no older balance history to revert to, and they invite trying her in mid lane.

MID.GG analysis

Aqua Prison moving from a 65% to a 100% AP ratio makes the bubble a real damage threat, so landing Q now matters for kills as well as for crowd control. Halving Ebb and Flow’s damage loss per bounce means a well-angled W keeps hitting hard on its later bounces. Together the changes reward accurate, aggressive play over the pure utility style live Nami players are used to.

Frequently asked questions

What is different about Nami in League Classic?

Classic Nami is her pre-Preseason Four kit, tuned toward damage. Her Aqua Prison deals 90 to 310 base damage plus 100% AP after Patch 26.22, and Ebb and Flow loses only 15% damage per bounce. Live Nami leans on ally utility through her passive Move Speed, her E empower and her ultimate.

When did Nami arrive in League Classic?

Nami arrived in League Classic in Patch 26.22. The same patch holds her only Classic balance entry so far, an adjustment that raised Aqua Prison’s damage and AP ratio and cut Ebb and Flow’s per-bounce damage loss. No other Classic patches have changed her since that entry.

Does Classic Nami’s Ebb and Flow lose damage when it bounces?

Yes. In League Classic, Ebb and Flow loses damage with each bounce between champions. Patch 26.22 cut that loss from 30% to 15% per bounce. The healing reduction per bounce stayed at 15%, so the stream now keeps damage and healing at the same rate as it travels between targets.

Is there a best build for Classic Nami?

No. League Classic has no statistics of any kind, so there are no win rates, builds, runes or tiers to point to for Classic Nami. The Patch 26.22 changes show her tuned toward damage through a 100% AP ratio on Aqua Prison, but no data shows which items suit her best.
