Thanatos (Park Seung-gyu, 박승규) is a South Korean top laner who plays for Cloud9 in North America. He is best known as the top laner on the Cloud9 roster that won LCS 2026 Spring, and he goes to Worlds 2026 with the organization. Before his move to the LCS, his first title came in Korea, at KeSPA Cup 2021 with DWG KIA Challengers.

Born: 1 May 2004

He was born on 1 May 2004, which puts him among the younger imports in North America. He keeps public channels on X, Twitch and YouTube, linked from the player card. You can find more player and team pages in our esports hub.

Thanatos career so far

Thanatos’s career runs through two organizations: a short, title-winning stint with DWG KIA Challengers in December 2021 and a stay with Cloud9 that began on 15 June 2024 and continues today. He has played top for both teams.

DWG KIA Challengers and KeSPA Cup 2021

His listed time with DWG KIA Challengers is brief, from 10 December 2021 to 12 December 2021, and it ended with a trophy. The roster finished 1st at KeSPA Cup 2021 on 12 December 2021, so the first result on his professional record is a win.

The career history lists no team between December 2021 and June 2024. His record picks up again with his move to North America, and his published history has nothing on that gap beyond those dates.

Cloud9, from June 2024

Thanatos joined Cloud9 as its top laner on 15 June 2024, and the history shows no change since. That gives him a long run on one roster, which matters in top lane: matchup knowledge, jungle pathing habits and Teleport calls all get sharper when the same players work together across several splits.

The payoff came in LCS 2026 Spring, which Cloud9 won on 17 May 2026. It is his first domestic league title in North America and the result that defines his standing in the region.

Achievements

Two titles make up Thanatos’s record: LCS 2026 Spring with Cloud9 and KeSPA Cup 2021 with DWG KIA Challengers. Both are 1st-place finishes, so every event on his achievements list is a win.

The LCS 2026 Spring title carries the most weight. It came with his current organization, in the league he competes in now, and it is the result Cloud9 brings into the 2026 season’s international stretch. The KeSPA Cup 2021 win is the older, smaller result, but it shows he was already on a winning roster in Korea before his move west.

His record is short but clean.

He has won both events on his achievements list: KeSPA Cup 2021 and LCS 2026 Spring.
