ARAM Mayhem Patch 26.20 Notes: Buffs and Picks

Six champions get mode-specific buffs and two prismatic augments get stronger. Here is what changed in ARAM: Mayhem and which picks to lock in.

ARAM: Mayhem Patch 26.20 is a straight power boost: every champion change is a buff, four of six augments are buffed, and only Juiced and Missile Split are adjusted. The biggest winners are Lee Sin, K’Sante and Bard, plus anyone who rolls Squishy Slappy Grab or Triggered Inferno. For the Summoner’s Rift side of the update, see LoL Patch 26.20.

TL;DR

  • Six champions buffed: Bard, Garen, K’Sante, Lee Sin, Swain and Thresh all get changes aimed at their core patterns in this mode.
  • Triggered Inferno buffed hard: its cooldown drops from 15s to 5s, so the prismatic now fires in nearly every fight.
  • Squishy Slappy Grab and Shark Tempest buffed: more damage, bigger shields and a stronger slow make both real picks for frontliners and bruisers.
  • Juiced adjusted: the mana drain is gone and damage converts to more mana, but ranged champions get a reduced share.
  • Missile Split adjusted: the missile now splits at the end of its path or on recast, not on the first unit it hits.

Full changes in ARAM: Mayhem Patch 26.20

The champion buffs remove friction rather than add raw stats across the board. K’Sante’s W becomes a flat 10s cooldown, Bard’s Meeps recharge in 5s instead of 8s, and Swain loses the mode’s damage-taken and healing penalties entirely. Swain is the one entry with a catch: his soul fragment restore now scales from 3% to 6% with level, so his early fights are weaker even as his late game improves.

Champions

Bard

Buffed
Riot’s reasoning

Bard’s Meeps are the core of his damage, so they get stronger to make him more satisfying to play in this mode.

Meep Ability Power Ratio
50%changed to 67%
Meep Recharge
8schanged to 5s
Meep Auto Damage per Chime Breakpoint
6 per 3 chimeschanged to 10 per 3 chimes
MID.GG analysis

AP Bard gains the most, since faster Meep recharges and a higher AP ratio turn his autos into steady poke. Collecting chimes now pays off more in fights.

Garen

Buffed
Riot’s reasoning

Garen’s sustain and shield loop is his core pattern, so both get support to make him more accessible in Mayhem.

Passive - PerseverancePassivePerseverance

Regen
1.5%–1.01%changed to 2%–12%

W - CourageWCourage

Cooldown
22–12changed to 18–12
Shield Strength
18% bonus healthchanged to 20% bonus health
Passive Stacks
0.4 per minion killchanged to 0.75 per minion kill
MID.GG analysis

Garen benefits from ARAM’s constant waves, as passive stacks from minion kills nearly double. Better regen and a stronger, earlier W shield keep him in fights longer and pair well with tank augments.

K'Sante

Buffed
Riot’s reasoning

K’Sante’s W charge is his signature engage, so it becomes more reliable and tankier in Mayhem.

W - Path MakerWPath Maker

Cooldown
14–10changed to 10
Damage Reduction
30%changed to 45%

E - FootworkEFootwork

Shield Strength
13.5% bonus healthchanged to 15% bonus health
MID.GG analysis

A flat 10s cooldown with higher damage reduction lets K’Sante engage far more often in early fights. He is a top pick for Squishy Slappy Grab, which scales with the bonus health he already builds.

Lee Sin

Buffed
Riot’s reasoning

Lee Sin’s dive and shield pattern needed help to feel rewarding in Mayhem, so his damage, shield and energy all rise.

Q2 Damage
60–180changed to 80–240

Passive - FlurryPassiveFlurry

Attack Speed
40% bonus Attack Speedchanged to 50% bonus Attack Speed
Energy Restore
20 / 30 / 40changed to 30 / 40 / 50

W - Safeguard / Iron WillWSafeguard / Iron Will

Shield
60–240changed to 80–320
MID.GG analysis

Lee Sin now kills squishies faster with Q2 and survives the dive with a much larger W shield. Extra energy and attack speed from his passive let him chain more abilities in long skirmishes.

Swain

Buffed
Riot’s reasoning

Swain’s mode penalties are removed to strengthen his drain-tank play, while his soul restore shifts to scale with level.

Damage Taken
105%changed to 100%
Healing
95%changed to 100%
Soul Fragments Restore
6% flatchanged to 3%–6% scaling with level
MID.GG analysis

Swain is weaker in the first fights but noticeably stronger from mid game, when he takes normal damage and heals at full value. Play for scaling and avoid forcing early engages.

Thresh

Buffed
Riot’s reasoning

Thresh’s soul scaling and lantern saves are his core strengths, so both happen more often in Mayhem.

Passive - DamnationPassiveDamnation

Soul Drop
2changed to 3

W - Dark PassageWDark Passage

Cooldown
21 / 20 / 19 / 18 / 17schanged to 19 / 18 / 17 / 16 / 15s
MID.GG analysis

Thresh scales faster with three souls per drop, which matters in a mode full of deaths. The shorter lantern cooldown means more saves per teamfight for his carries.

Augments

Augment

Juiced

AdjustedSilver
Riot’s reasoning

Juiced loses its mana drain as part of a usability pass, with a higher damage-to-mana conversion to compensate.

Mana Drain
Removed
Damage-to-Mana Ratio
4.5%changed to 7%
Ranged modifier
New80% of the 7%
MID.GG analysis

Melee mana users gain the most from the adjusted version, since they get the full conversion with no drain. Ranged champions only receive part of the bonus, so it is a weaker roll for them.

Augment

Leg Day

BuffedSilver
Riot’s reasoning

Leg Day needed more impact, so its slow resist goes up.

Slow Resist
40%changed to 50%
MID.GG analysis

Melee fighters and tanks who must walk through kiting and slows benefit most. It remains a silver pick, but it now helps champions like Garen reach the backline more consistently.

Augment

Missile Split

Adjusted
Riot’s reasoning

Missile Split now splits on end or recast as a usability fix, so it no longer triggers on whatever unit gets hit first.

Split Trigger
On first unit hitchanged to On end or recast
MID.GG analysis

Champions with long-range missiles benefit, since minions and tanks in front no longer waste the split. Players who relied on point-blank splits on a single target lose some reliability with the adjusted trigger.

Augment

Shark Tempest

BuffedGold
Riot’s reasoning

Shark Tempest was underperforming, so its slow, area damage and scaling all rise.

Slow
30% for 3schanged to 40% for 3s
Base Area of Effect Damage
50–100changed to 100–200
Attached Damage over 3s
75–225 + 0.6 bonus AD + 0.36 APchanged to 90–270 + 0.75 bonus AD + 0.45 AP
MID.GG analysis

Better bonus AD and AP ratios make it a strong gold pick for bruisers and mages. The bigger slow also gives melee teams an easier engage tool.

Augment

Squishy Slappy Grab

BuffedPrismatic
Riot’s reasoning

Squishy Slappy Grab needed more value, so its cooldown drops and its damage and shield grow.

Cooldown
35schanged to 30s
Damage
30–100 + 10% bonus Healthchanged to 50–150 + 15% bonus Health
Shield per Target
35–150 + 50% bonus Armor + 50% bonus Magic Resistancechanged to 50–200 + 50% bonus Armor + 50% bonus Magic Resistance
MID.GG analysis

Tanks and health-stacking fighters like K’Sante and Garen get the most, since damage scales with bonus health and the shield with bonus resistances. A shorter cooldown means it appears in more fights.

Augment

Triggered Inferno

BuffedPrismatic
Riot’s reasoning

Triggered Inferno’s cooldown is cut so it can deliver the Samira-style fantasy it was built around.

Cooldown
15schanged to 5s
MID.GG analysis

Samira and other champions who stay in extended skirmishes gain the most, as the effect now fires repeatedly within one fight. Take it whenever it shows up on an all-in carry.

What to play

Pick champions whose buffs land on the ability you press most. These five gain the most on the Bridge this patch; browse the rest on our champions pages.

  • Lee Sin (fighter): Q2 damage rises to 80–240 and the W shield to 80–320, so every engage hits harder and he walks out of it.
  • K’Sante (tank): a flat 10s W with 45% damage reduction lets you charge into the enemy line twice as often as early-game K’Sante could.
  • Bard (support/mage): Meeps every 5s with a 67% AP ratio turn him into a steady poke threat instead of a utility pick.
  • Garen (fighter): faster passive stacks from minion kills and stronger regen keep him healthy between fights in a mode with constant waves.
  • Thresh (support): an extra soul per drop speeds up his scaling, and a shorter lantern cooldown means more saves per teamfight.

On augments, take Squishy Slappy Grab on bonus-health builders like K’Sante and Garen, since both its damage and shield grow with your tank stats. Shark Tempest now scales better with both bonus AD and AP, which makes it a safe gold pick on bruisers and mages alike. If you are on a melee mana user, Juiced is better than before; on ranged picks the reduced share makes it a closer call.

TipMissile Split after the change

Because the split now happens at the end of the path or on recast, aim long skillshots past the front line so the split lands on the backline. Hitting the first minion no longer wastes it.

Bug fixes that change your games

Spell Split had several fixes: Lucian’s W now splits when he dashes mid-cast, casting a Summoner spell during the ability no longer stops the split, and you can queue other spells again. Infernal Soul and Jeweled Gauntlet no longer count damage to minions, so expect them to progress only from champion damage. Minion Mancer now amplifies Shaco’s R explosion and Ivern’s R knockup, and Aurora’s Q gets its proper cooldown benefit from Skilled Sniper. Past updates live in our ARAM Mayhem patch notes archive.

Frequently asked questions

What changed in ARAM: Mayhem Patch 26.20?

Patch 26.20 buffs six champions in ARAM: Mayhem: Bard, Garen, K’Sante, Lee Sin, Swain and Thresh. Four augments are buffed, including Triggered Inferno and Squishy Slappy Grab, while Juiced and Missile Split are adjusted. Several bug fixes also clean up Spell Split, King Me and Minion Mancer interactions.

Is Triggered Inferno good in ARAM: Mayhem Patch 26.20?

Yes. Triggered Inferno is buffed with its cooldown cut from 15s to 5s, so it now triggers in almost every fight instead of once per engage. The change targets Samira-style play, and it makes the prismatic augment one of the strongest rolls for champions who stay in extended skirmishes.

How does Missile Split work after Patch 26.20?

Missile Split is adjusted so the missile splits when it reaches the end of its path or when you recast it, rather than on the first unit it hits. Aim long skillshots past the front line so the split lands on the backline, and minions in the way no longer waste the effect.

Did Swain get buffed or nerfed in ARAM: Mayhem?

Swain is buffed. His mode adjustments to damage taken and healing both move to 100%, removing his penalties. His soul fragment restore now scales from 3% to 6% with level instead of a flat 6%, so his early fights are slightly weaker, but his mid and late game improve clearly.
