Caps LoL: Career, Champions and Worlds 2026

Caps, G2 Esports’ Danish mid laner, by the numbers: his 2026 season against 2025, the champions and builds he wins with, a career from Fnatic to G2, and his Worlds 2026 path.

Caps, real name Rasmus Borregaard Winther, is a Danish mid laner who has played for G2 Esports since January 2019. His record is one of the longest in European League of Legends: two Worlds finals, the MSI 2019 title and a long run of domestic trophies with Fnatic and G2. His champion pool leans on control mages such as Orianna, Syndra and Azir, with LeBlanc and Ahri for games where he needs to pick fights himself.

2026 season stats

Caps’ 2026 season is busier and more successful than his last. G2 reached the First Stand final, played MSI and won all three LEC playoffs, so he has already played more games than the 113 he logged in 2025. He is also winning a clearly larger share of them than last year’s 59.3% win rate.

The bigger change is how he wins. His kills per game and KDA have risen while his deaths have stayed flat, so G2 is turning his leads into takedowns without asking him to take more risk. His damage per minute is up too, yet his share of the team’s damage sits almost exactly where it was in 2025, at 25.1%. G2 still spreads resources across the map rather than funneling everything into mid.

Two smaller trends support that picture. He is involved in a slightly larger share of G2’s kills, and he places more vision per minute than last season. Both point to a mid laner who moves with his jungler and supports instead of staying on the wave.

Caps’ champion pool and pro win rates

Caps has narrowed his pool in 2026, using fewer champions than the 25 he played in 2025, and the focus has paid off. Ahri is his most played champion this year, but her record is only solid. Orianna is carrying his season: she has been close to unbeaten on a real sample, and he drafted her again in the LEC Summer Playoffs final.

Behind them, LeBlanc, Viktor and Azir all hold comfortable winning records, which gives G2 several answers in mid without showing much in draft. Akali, Annie and Taliyah are the pocket picks. Each has an excellent record on a small sample, strong enough to take seriously but too small to call a trend.

The weak spots are just as clear. Anivia and Syndra both carry losing records this year, and Syndra stands out because she is one of his most played champions across his career. Ryze, another career staple, has hovered closer to even. Galio sits in the pool for a different reason: low damage and high assists show he takes it to set up fights for his carries, not to win the game himself.

Key takeawayReading Caps' 2026 pool

Three things stand out in the champion tables.

  1. Orianna is the champion G2 trusts most when a game has to be won.
  2. Ahri is his most played champion but not his most reliable one.
  3. Akali, Annie and Taliyah have strong records on samples too small to call.

Pro builds on Ahri, Orianna and Ryze

His Ahri build shows he plays her as a pick-off threat. Malignance is his near-constant item, most often paired with Lich Bane and Rabadon’s Deathcap for burst. The runes run Electrocute with Domination primary and Sorcery secondary, and Flash with Teleport lets him join a side-lane fight or a dive without walking there.

Orianna is built for teamfights rather than lane kills. Blackfire Torch is in almost every game, Crimson Lucidity is his usual pair of boots, and Zhonya’s Hourglass and Cryptbloom show up often. Zhonya’s Hourglass is the tell: it lets him walk into the middle of a fight to land her ultimate and survive the response. The runes come from Sorcery with an Inspiration secondary.

Ryze has the most fixed build of the three. Rod of Ages and Seraph’s Embrace are his core, a setup that grows stronger the longer a game goes, and Actualizer and Crimson Lucidity fill out the rest. The Summoner spells are the giveaway: Flash with Ghost instead of Teleport, so he can chase down or outlast opponents in long skirmishes around objectives.

Caps’ career: from Dark Passage to Fnatic and G2

Caps turned professional in 2016 with Dark Passage in the TCL. He joined on 11 June 2016, won the TCL 2016 Summer Playoffs and left that August. Fnatic signed him on 19 January 2017, and he became the center of their revival with first place in EU LCS 2017 Summer, the EU Regional Finals 2017 and both 2018 EU LCS splits.

His Fnatic years ended on the biggest stage. After a 3rd–4th finish at MSI 2018, Fnatic reached the Worlds 2018 final and finished 2nd, and his time with the organization closed on 3 November 2018, the day of that final.

He joined G2 Esports on 18 January 2019, and that first year remains the high point of his career. G2 won the LEC 2019 Spring split, MSI 2019 and the LEC 2019 Summer split, then reached a second straight Worlds final for Caps, finishing 2nd at Worlds 2019. A 3rd–4th finish at Worlds 2020 followed, alongside both LEC 2020 playoff titles.

The years after were uneven at first, then dominant at home. 2021 brought only a Spring regular-season first place, 2022 added the Spring Playoffs and the Summer split, and from 2023 G2 won the LEC almost every split. Internationally, that stretch produced semifinal-level finishes at MSI 2022 and the Esports World Cup 2024, and 4th places at MSI 2024, the Esports World Cup 2025 and MSI 2026.

Achievements

MSI 2019 is still the only international title on his record, and the Worlds finals in 2018 and 2019 remain the peak of his World Championship runs. Everything since has been built in Europe: in 2026 alone, G2 won the LEC Versus, Spring and Summer Playoffs with Caps in mid.

International play is where his record has gaps. His 2nd place at First Stand 2026 was his deepest run at a global event since Worlds 2019, while MSI 2026 ended in 4th. That is the context for G2’s Worlds 2026 campaign: domestically there is little left for him to win, so his standing now rides on international results.
