Best Top Laners in League of Legends (Season 2026)

Teemo, Garen and Sett lead our top lane tier list, ranked by win rate and pick rate across over 1.2 million ranked games as of 6 October 2026.

The best top laners in League of Legends right now are Teemo, Garen and Sett, with Singed and Illaoi completing S tier. Malphite, Dr. Mundo and Ornn lead A tier, and every champion in S and A tier wins more than half of their games.

The numbers come from our ranked top lane games as of 6 October 2026, over 1.2 million in total. Each win rate is pulled toward the average according to its sample size, and a small bonus rewards pick rate. Champions under 1,000 games, or played mostly in another role, are left out.

Best top laners right now: top picks

  • Teemo ranks first overall. A 51.9% WR across 108,614 games is the strongest blend of win rate and volume in the role.
  • Garen is the most played top laner in our data at 123,971 games and still wins 51.5% of them. That rate holds over the largest sample on the list, which makes him a dependable climbing pick.
  • Sett pairs a 51.5% WR with 105,415 games, so his rate rests on one of the deepest samples in the role.
  • Singed has the highest win rate on the list at 52.0% WR. His 32,233 games are the smallest sample in S tier, so the score places him fourth.
  • Illaoi rounds out S tier with a 51.5% WR over 54,006 games.

How we rank

Ranked by a score combining win rate and pick rate; within a tier, by score.

Ranked games from our champion stats in this role. Win rate is shrunk toward the average by sample size, plus a small pick-rate bonus; champions under 1,000 games or 1% of the role's games, and off-role picks (under 15% of the champion's games, unless played in over 20,000), are left out. Sample: 1,230,326.5 games.

  • Teemo: Teemo tops the list because a 51.9% WR over 108,614 games is the strongest mix of win rate and volume in the role.
  • Garen: Garen is the most played top laner at 123,971 games and still holds a 51.5% WR, the most proven result on the list.
  • Sett: Sett earns S tier with a 51.5% WR over 105,415 games, one of the deepest samples in the role.
  • Malphite: Malphite leads A tier by combining a 51.0% WR with 88,849 games, a volume few champions in the tier match.
  • Dr. Mundo: Dr. Mundo sits high in A tier with a 51.2% WR across 55,666 games.
  • Ornn: Ornn has the highest win rate in A tier at 51.3%, held just below S tier by a smaller sample of 42,110 games.
  • Aatrox: Aatrox has the highest win rate in C tier at 49.1%, still short of the 50% line across 44,964 games.
  • Gangplank: Gangplank is the most played C tier champion at 51,869 games, but a 49.0% WR keeps him there.
  • Akali: Akali sits in C tier with a 49.1% WR on a smaller sample of 25,515 top lane games.
  • Rumble: Rumble leads D tier at 47.3% WR, but 12,720 games is the smallest sample on the list, so his placement is the least certain.
  • Jayce: Jayce is the most played D tier champion at 25,592 games, and his 47.2% WR keeps him in the bottom tier.
  • Vayne: Vayne lands in D tier with a 47.0% WR across 18,603 top lane games.

The score rewards win rates that hold up over many games. Singed’s 52.0% leads the role, yet Teemo sits above him because a 51.9% WR over 108,614 games is the more certain number. The same logic shapes A tier: Yone is its most played champion at 106,324 games, but a 50.5% WR keeps him behind Malphite, Dr. Mundo and Ornn.

Darius is the clearest case of popularity outrunning results. He is the most played B tier pick at 108,353 games, but a 48.8% WR puts him last in the tier. If he is your main, keep playing him for the mastery you have built, not because the queue is full of Darius players.

C and D tier champions all sit below a 50% win rate. Rumble leads D tier at 47.3% WR, but 12,720 games is the smallest sample on the list, so read his placement as a weaker signal than the picks above him.

Tier breakdown

S tier

S tier pairs win rates above 51% with large samples, led by Teemo, Garen and Sett at over 100,000 games each. Pick from here when you want a top laner whose results hold up across a wide spread of ranked games, especially if you blind pick often.

A tier

A tier holds win rates between 50.5% and 51.3%, from niche picks like Kayle to heavily played ones like Yone. Pick from here when an S tier champion does not fit your comfort or your team, since the gap to S tier is small.

B tier

B tier is the broad middle of the role, with win rates around 50% and the widest range of playstyles. These are fine picks if you know them well, but none of them carries you on numbers alone.

C tier

C tier champions all win below 50%, between 47.9% and 49.1%. Play them only when you have real mastery or a matchup you know well, because the numbers will not do the work for you.

D tier

D tier holds the lowest win rates in the role, from 46.2% to 47.3%. These picks are for dedicated one-tricks; if you are learning top lane, choose from higher tiers.

How to use this tier list

Pick by comfort first, matchup second and tier third. The win-rate gaps between neighboring tiers are small, often smaller than the edge you get from a champion you already know. When you pick late, check the enemy top laner before locking in; when you pick early, lean on the high-volume S and A tier names whose rates hold across the widest range of games. Then look at your team: if your jungler and mid bring the damage, a frontline pick such as Malphite, Ornn or Shen covers what the comp lacks. Pair this list with the best junglers and the best mid laners to plan around your teammates, and check the latest patch notes before you commit to a new pool.

Take one S or A tier champion you can blind pick and one you save for when you see the enemy top laner. Learn both on their champion pages and browse our other guides for the rest of your team.

Frequently asked questions

Who is the best top laner in League of Legends right now?

Teemo ranks first in our top lane tier list as of 6 October 2026, with a 51.9% win rate across 108,614 ranked games. Garen and Sett follow, and Singed and Illaoi complete S tier. The ranking combines win rate, adjusted for sample size, with a small bonus for pick rate.

Which top laner has the highest win rate?

Singed has the highest win rate among top laners in our data at 52.0%, across 32,233 ranked games as of 6 October 2026. He still ranks fourth in S tier because his sample is the smallest in that tier, so our score trusts his rate a little less than Teemo’s or Garen’s.

What is the best top laner to climb with?

Garen is a strong climbing pick: he is the most played top laner in our ranked data at 123,971 games and wins 51.5% of them. Teemo and Sett offer similar win rates over samples above 100,000 games. Pick whichever you can play comfortably, since mastery matters more than small tier gaps.

How is this top lane tier list ranked?

We use our own ranked top lane games. Each champion’s win rate is pulled toward the average based on how many games it has, then a small pick-rate bonus is added. Champions under 1,000 games, or played mostly in another role, are excluded. Within each tier, champions appear in score order.

Why is Darius only B tier?

Darius sits last in B tier because his win rate is 48.8% across 108,353 ranked games as of 6 October 2026. He is the most played champion in that tier, which earns a small pick-rate bonus, but the bonus cannot lift a below-average win rate over that many games into a higher tier.
