Canyon LoL: Career, Champions and Worlds 2026

Gen.G jungler Canyon, from his Worlds 2020 title with DAMWON Gaming to a 2026 built on Pantheon, Lee Sin and bruiser builds, and his place at Worlds 2026.

Canyon is Kim Geon-bu, a South Korean jungler who plays League of Legends (LoL) for Gen.G in the LCK. He made his name at DAMWON Gaming, where he won Worlds 2020, and he is known for a jungle pool that has always ranged from carry picks such as Graves, Kindred and Nidalee to fighters like Lee Sin and Kha’Zix.

Since joining Gen.G in January 2024 he has added MSI titles in 2024 and 2025 and a long run of LCK trophies. In 2026, Gen.G won both the LCK Cup and the LCK 2026 Season Playoffs with him in the jungle.

2026 season stats

Canyon’s 2026 is stronger than his 2025, and 2025 was already an elite year: he finished it 117–48, a 70.9% win rate. This season he is winning a larger share of his games again, with a better KDA, and the season stats table shows the gap line by line.

The bigger change is how much of the game runs through him. He is taking more kills per game, more CS and gold per minute and a larger share of his team’s damage than in 2025, while his deaths per game have held level and his kill participation is almost unchanged. That profile fits his pool: bruisers such as Pantheon and Xin Zhao farm and fight for their own items rather than living off assists.

He has played fewer games than in 2025 so far, partly because Worlds 2026 has not started yet. Vision per minute is also up, a useful sign that the extra farming has not cost Gen.G map control.

Canyon’s champions and pro win rates

Pantheon is his most played champion this year, and that says a lot about how Gen.G plays around him. Pantheon is at his best early, so picking him means the jungle is expected to create pressure before the first objectives rather than wait for items. Vi, Xin Zhao and Jarvan IV fill the same job from different angles: reliable engage and a way into the enemy backline.

The best returns on a real sample come from Lee Sin, Skarner and Nocturne, all regular picks with records ahead of the rest of the pool. Skarner in particular has been one of his most dependable champions whenever Gen.G draft it. Xin Zhao is the outlier among the regulars: one of his most played champions, but with a clearly lower win rate than the others, so it reads as a matchup or composition pick rather than a first choice.

Below the core sit pocket picks: Trundle, Aatrox, Maokai, Ambessa, Cho’Gath and Nidalee each have a handful of games, too few to call any of them strong or weak. Trundle stands out because it came out in the LCK 2026 Season Playoffs, a sign he trusts it on a big stage. You can read how each of these champions plays on our champion pages.

Key takeawayReading Canyon's pool

Three things to take from his 2026 champion table.

  1. Pantheon, Vi and Jarvan IV are his early-pressure picks, built to force plays before the first objectives.
  2. Lee Sin, Skarner and Nocturne are where his win rate is highest on a meaningful sample.
  3. Champions with only a few games are pocket picks: judge them by the drafts they answer, not by their record.

Pro builds

Canyon’s top three champions this year share one build path: Black Cleaver first, Sundered Sky second and, in many games, Guardian Angel third. On Pantheon, Xin Zhao and Vi, that is a frontline fighter’s build. Black Cleaver shreds armor for the whole team, Sundered Sky keeps him alive through extended fights, and Guardian Angel is insurance for a jungler whose job is to dive first.

The runes tell the same story. All three run Conqueror with Triumph and Cut Down from Precision, plus Magical Footwear and Cosmic Insight from Inspiration, with Flash and Smite. The one difference is the Legend rune: Legend: Haste on Pantheon, whose value is in his cooldowns, and Legend: Alacrity with an attack speed shard on Xin Zhao and Vi, who deal much of their damage through basic attacks.

Put together, the builds say he wants games decided in mid-game skirmishes and teamfights, not in a slow scaling contest. Cosmic Insight points the same way: faster Flash and item cooldowns mean more fights he can start on his own terms.

TipCopying Canyon's bruiser build

If you play Pantheon, Xin Zhao or Vi in solo queue, his path is a sound default: Black Cleaver into Sundered Sky, then Guardian Angel when you are the one diving the backline. Check the latest patch notes before locking it in, since item numbers change from patch to patch, and use our jungle guides for pathing that suits these picks.

Canyon’s LoL career: DAMWON Gaming to Gen.G

Canyon joined DAMWON Gaming on 18 December 2018, and his first title came at Rift Rivals 2019 LCK-LPL-LMS-VCS. The breakthrough was 2020: DAMWON Gaming won LCK 2020 Summer and the LCK 2020 Summer Playoffs, then Worlds 2020 on 31 October 2020, and closed the run with the KeSPA Cup 2020.

He continued under the DWG KIA name from 13 January 2021. That year brought LCK 2021 Spring and LCK 2021 Summer along with both playoff titles, plus 2nd place at MSI 2021 and at Worlds 2021. He stayed until 5 November 2022.

He spent 2023 at Dplus Kia, from 18 January to 19 November 2023, and the achievements list records no titles for 2022 or 2023. The move to Gen.G on 17 January 2024 restarted the trophy run: LCK 2024 Spring, MSI 2024 and LCK 2024 Summer in his first year there, then MSI 2025 and the Esports World Cup 2025 a year later.

Achievements

Worlds 2020 remains the headline of his record. His Gen.G years have added the international titles that keep him in the conversation as one of the best junglers in the world: MSI 2024, MSI 2025 and the Esports World Cup 2025.

At home the record is close to complete. With Gen.G he has won LCK 2024 Spring and LCK 2024 Summer, every LCK stage of 2025 on the list, and in 2026 the LCK Cup, LCK 2026 Rounds 3–4 and the LCK 2026 Season Playoffs.

The gap is Worlds itself. Gen.G finished 3rd–4th at both Worlds 2024 and Worlds 2025, and 2026 has brought two more international near misses: 3rd–4th at First Stand 2026 and 3rd at the Esports World Cup 2026. Those results are why Worlds 2026 matters for how this Gen.G era is remembered.

His ranked games on the Korean server look different from his pro pool. Nidalee leads his solo queue games despite appearing only rarely in his pro games this year, with Lee Sin, a pro staple, close behind. Below them the list turns experimental: Jayce, Qiyana, Hwei and Jax sit next to the Jarvan IV and Vi he also plays on stage.

He streams on SOOP, and his ranked games sit with other streamers and pro players in the MID.GG VOD library. If you want to study him, start with his Nidalee and Lee Sin games: they are his most played ranked champions and career signatures, so they are the closest match between his ranked and pro habits.
