Doran LoL: Career, Champions and Worlds 2026

T1 top laner Doran won Worlds 2025 in his first year with the organization. Here are his 2026 stats, champion pool, pro builds, career and Worlds 2026 schedule.

Doran (Choi Hyeon-jun) is the top laner for T1 in Korea’s LCK and a League of Legends (LoL) pro who has won titles with three different organizations. He lifted the Worlds 2025 trophy in his first year at T1, after LCK titles with Gen.G and Hanwha Life Esports. He is known for a deep champion pool that runs from lane bullies such as Jayce and Renekton to teamfight picks like Gnar and K’Sante.

His card below covers the basics. For the rest of the Korean scene and every other league, start from our esports hub.

2026 season stats

Doran’s 2026 looks a lot like his title-winning 2025, with more lane pressure and a little less presence in fights. In 2025 he played 187 games at a 63.1% win rate. This year his win rate sits in the same range and his KDA is close to flat.

The shift is in how he gets his numbers. His CS/min and damage/min are both up on last season, while his share of T1’s damage holds steady and his kill participation has dropped. That profile fits a top laner who is handed more side-lane farm and asked to win his half of the map, rather than walk to every skirmish.

For you as a top laner, that is the useful lesson. A high win rate does not require high kill participation. Doran wins by turning lane leads into gold and pressure, then arriving at the fights that matter.

Doran’s champions and pro win rates

Jayce is the center of Doran’s 2026 pool. It is his most played champion this season and the one with the best record on a real sample. It gives T1 early lane pressure and a ranged threat before objectives, which suits a team that likes to play through early tempo.

Behind it, Rumble, Sion and K’Sante have all won well on double-digit samples. That makes them his most reliable answers when Jayce is banned or countered. Ambessa and Gnar tell a different story: he reaches for them often, yet both sit close to even this year, which points to blind-pick safety rather than his strongest tools.

The edges of the pool show how flexible T1’s drafts are. Olaf has a winning record over eight games as an early skirmish pick, while Gwen, Zaahen, Gragas and Vayne each have four games, too few to call. Jax has been the one clear miss, with a 1–4 record.

Pro builds

Doran’s builds show a player who wants to win lane first and scale second. On Jayce he takes Grasp of the Undying in Resolve with Inspiration secondary in the games where his runes are recorded, pairing Demolish and Bone Plating with a lethality core of Muramana, Serylda’s Grudge, Youmuu’s Ghostblade and Serpent’s Fang. That is a turret-pressure setup: short trades, plates, then burst.

Ambessa follows the same plan. He runs Grasp again, with Shield Bash, Second Wind and Unflinching for repeated short trades, then builds Eclipse into Black Cleaver. Death’s Dance or Maw of Malmortius come in when he needs to survive physical or magic burst.

Gnar is the exception. He runs Lethal Tempo with Legend: Alacrity and Cut Down, opens Trinity Force into Sterak’s Gage, and adds Randuin’s Omen or Wit’s End depending on the enemy team. That is a build for extended fights and side-lane duels rather than lane trades. Flash and Teleport are his Summoner spells on all three champions.

TipWhat to copy from Doran's builds

Pro builds follow item values on the current patch, so check the latest patch notes before you copy one.

  1. On Jayce and Ambessa, Grasp of the Undying rewards short trades: hit, step back, repeat.
  2. On Gnar, pick Randuin’s Omen against attack-damage threats and Wit’s End against magic damage.
  3. Keep Teleport for lane safety and fights across the map, as he does on every top pick.

Doran’s LoL career from Seoul to T1

Doran’s pro career started with a short spell at Seoul in December 2018. He joined DragonX on 23 December 2019, moved to DRX in June 2020, and played for KT Rolster from December 2020 until August 2021.

The breakthrough came at Gen.G, where he played from January 2022 to November 2023 and won his first LCK titles. He spent 2024 at Hanwha Life Esports and won another LCK playoff title there. He signed with T1 on 15 January 2025 and won Worlds 2025 in his first season with the organization.

Every stop has been in top lane, and every team he has joined since 2022 has won a major title with him. That consistency across different rosters and coaching staffs is the strongest case for his standing among Korean top laners.

Achievements

Worlds 2025 is the result that defines Doran’s standing. It came in his first year at T1, three years after he reached 3rd–4th at Worlds 2022 with Gen.G.

His domestic record backs it up: LCK 2022 Summer and its playoffs, both 2023 playoff titles with Gen.G, and the LCK 2024 Summer Playoffs with Hanwha Life Esports. With T1 he has added the KeSPA Cup 2025 and a 2nd place at MSI 2025, while the Esports World Cup 2026 ended in 4th.

Solo queue and streams

In Korean solo queue Doran sits in Master and plays a more mechanical pool than on stage. Ambessa and Jayce lead his ranked games, as they do in pro play, but Irelia and Aurora also feature, picks that are not among his main pro champions this year.

If you play top lane, his stream VODs show how he trades on Jayce and Ambessa without a pro team built around him. Pair them with the top-lane fundamentals in our guides.
