Kiin LoL: Career, Champions and Worlds 2026

Kiin is Gen.G’s top laner and a two-time MSI champion. Here is what his 2026 stats, champion pool, builds and career say about him heading into Worlds 2026.

Kiin (Kim Gi-in) is the top laner for Gen.G in Korea’s LCK and one of the most decorated players in his role. He is known for a pool that runs from lane bullies like Renekton and Ambessa to tanks like Sion and K’Sante, ranged top picks like Jayce and Varus, and damage carries like Rumble. Since joining Gen.G in January 2024 he has won MSI twice, in 2024 and 2025, along with a long run of LCK titles.

He turned pro with Winners in 2017, spent four years at Afreeca Freecs, and won his first LCK title with KT Rolster in the 2023 Summer split before moving to Gen.G. Few top laners have stayed at the top of the Korean league for as long, and fewer have done it while changing champion styles this often.

2026 season stats

Kiin’s 2026 is a step up on an already elite 2025. Last year he played 167 games at a 70.1% win rate with a 3.67 KDA. This season Gen.G is winning an even larger share of his games, his KDA is higher, and the year still has Worlds to run.

The bigger change is in his own output. He is farming faster, dealing more damage per minute and taking a slightly larger slice of Gen.G’s damage than in 2025, while dying about as often. That combination matters: a top laner who adds damage without adding deaths is converting leads rather than trading them away.

His kill participation dipped a touch compared with last year, which is consistent with a top laner who spends more of the game on his own lane and side waves and joins fights on his terms. His vision per minute also climbed, a small but useful sign for a player who almost always carries Teleport and needs to see a flank before he uses it.

Champion pool and pro win rates

Ambessa is Kiin’s most played champion of 2026 and one of his most successful: Gen.G wins the large majority of games where he takes her. Sion is the other standout on a real sample, with an almost spotless record, and Rumble, Gnar and Renekton round out a core he trusts in almost any draft. Those five give Gen.G a bruiser, a tank, a damage carry and two lane-strong picks without leaving the comfort zone.

The surprises sit lower in the table. Olaf is unbeaten in his hands so far this season, and Vayne and Varus show that Kiin and Gen.G are willing to put ranged champions in the top lane when the draft rewards it. Varus is no novelty: it came out repeatedly in the LCK 2026 Season Playoffs.

Not every staple is working. Jayce and K’Sante, both among his most played champions across his career, have losing records in 2026 on samples large enough to take seriously. In our view they are situational picks for him this year rather than first choices, and you can compare how both are doing in ranked on our champion pages.

TipWhat to copy from Kiin's pool

You do not need a pool this wide to climb, but you can copy its shape: one lane bully, one frontline tank and one damage carry you can play into any matchup. For Kiin that is Ambessa, Sion and Rumble; for you it should be the three top laners you win with most.

Across his career, Renekton is the champion he has played most in pro games, followed by K’Sante, Gnar, Jayce and Aatrox, while Ambessa, a far newer addition, already carries the best career win rate in the table. Leaguepedia also lists Ryze, Gangplank and Lucian among his signature champions, a reminder of how long his pool has stretched beyond standard top lane picks.

Pro builds

Kiin’s builds follow one idea: win lane, then stay alive long enough to matter in teamfights. On Ambessa, Eclipse is his fixed first item and Spear of Shojin his usual follow-up. After that he leans defensive with Death’s Dance or Guardian Angel rather than stacking more damage, with Black Cleaver when he needs armor shred.

Ambessa and Sion share the same rune skeleton: Grasp of the Undying in Resolve with Inspiration secondary, Shield Bash and Second Wind for lane sustain, and Biscuit Delivery with Cosmic Insight. The Sion page swaps Unflinching for Revitalize, which gets more value from his shield and from Spirit Visage healing.

Sion’s itemization is pure frontline. Unending Despair comes first and Spirit Visage second, then Jak’Sho or The Protean, with Frozen Heart, Randuin’s Omen or Thornmail as answers to specific threats. This is the build of a player who wants to start fights and soak the first rotation of cooldowns, not one who expects to carry with damage.

Rumble is the outlier. Kiin runs First Strike from Inspiration with Cash Back, Triple Tonic and Cosmic Insight, plus Celerity and Scorch from Sorcery, a page that rewards landing the first hit in lane and turning trades into gold. Liandry’s Torment is the fixed first item, with Riftmaker or Zhonya’s Hourglass behind it depending on whether he needs sustained damage or a way to survive dives.

Every build runs Flash and Teleport, the standard top lane pairing for a player who expects to join drake fights from the side lane. Items shift from patch to patch, so read the latest patch notes before you copy any of these builds into ranked.

Key takeawayReading Kiin's builds

The pattern across his top three champions is consistent.

  1. Lock in the same first item every game so your power spike timing is predictable.
  2. Buy defense after your core damage when you are the one starting fights.
  3. Keep Teleport on top laners who need to reach bot side objectives.

Recent pro games and form

Kiin’s latest games come from the LCK 2026 Season Playoffs, where Gen.G beat KT Rolster and then met Hanwha Life Esports twice on the way to the title on 13 September 2026. Against Hanwha Life he leaned on Gwen, Sion, Rumble and Varus, with a Yorick pick mixed in, while Twisted Fate and Aatrox came out against KT Rolster.

If you play top, the Varus games are worth your time: a ranged champion in a playoff final is a draft decision built around lane pressure and poke, and watching how he plays the lane shows what Gen.G wanted from it. Each game with a recording has a Watch link in the table.

Career

Kiin’s career began at Winners, a team earlier known as Ever8 Winners, which he joined on 30 May 2017. From 16 January 2018 to 28 August 2021 he was the top laner for Afreeca Freecs, the longest stint of his career. Those years established him in the LCK, with a second place at Rift Rivals 2018 and the KeSPA Cup 2019 title.

He played the 2022 season with Kwangdong Freecs, then joined KT Rolster on 18 January 2023. That year delivered his first LCK title, the 2023 Summer split, and showed he could win a domestic final on a contending roster.

Gen.G signed him on 17 January 2024, and the move turned a long-time top LCK top laner into a regular winner. Every international title on his record has come since that date, and he has been the organization’s top laner for every season since.

Achievements

The two MSI titles, MSI 2024 and MSI 2025, are the headline results: they make Kiin an international champion and a fixture of Gen.G’s run at the top of the league. 2025 was his strongest year on paper, with MSI, the Esports World Cup 2025 and first place in each LCK stage listed for that year.

2026 has followed the same domestic pattern, with the LCK Cup 2026, LCK 2026 Rounds 3–4 and the LCK 2026 Season Playoffs all won. The international events have been closer this year: 3rd–4th at First Stand 2026 and 3rd at the Esports World Cup 2026.

The gap is Worlds. Gen.G finished 3rd–4th at both Worlds 2024 and Worlds 2025 with Kiin in the top lane, so a world title is the one major trophy missing from his record.

Kiin at Worlds 2026

Kiin is at Worlds 2026 with Gen.G, seeded Korea #1, and the team goes straight into the Main Event. Gen.G starts in the Swiss stage, which begins on 23 October 2026, with the Knockouts to follow for the teams that advance. Follow every stage on the Worlds 2026 hub.

Solo queue and streams

In ranked on the Korean server, Kiin plays more like a flex player than a pure top laner. Rumble is his most played champion in solo queue, but Ryze, Aurora, Twisted Fate and Corki show he spends real time on mid-lane champions, and Twisted Fate in particular has gone well for him.

Ambessa, Jayce, Kennen, Aatrox and Camille fill out the top-lane side of the list, and that half overlaps with his pro pool far more than the mid picks do. You can find him alongside other streamers and pro players, and the table below links his stream page.

Kiin’s streamer page lists 618 solo queue games in our VOD library at a 58.3% win rate, currently Grandmaster (1,986 LP).
