Ruler LoL: Career, Champions and Worlds 2026

Ruler, Gen.G’s bot laner, is a Worlds 2017 champion with two MSI titles. His 2026 season stats, champion pool, pro builds and career are covered here, with Worlds 2026 ahead.

Ruler (Park Jae-hyuk) is the starting bot laner for Gen.G in the LCK and one of the most decorated AD carries in LoL. He won Worlds 2017 with Samsung Galaxy, lifted the MSI trophy with JD Gaming in 2023 and again with Gen.G in 2025, and he is known for a deep marksman pool, very few deaths and heavy farming that lets his team play for the late game.

Born on 29 December 1998 in South Korea, he has played bot lane for every roster on his record, across two regions and three organizations. He also runs a SOOP channel and a YouTube channel, and MID.GG tracks him with the other streamers and pro players in our VOD library.

2026 season stats

Ruler’s 2026 is a slightly better winning year than 2025, when he won 71.8% of his games. He has played fewer games so far than last season’s 163, with Worlds still to come, and Gen.G’s dominant LCK run means most of those games were played from ahead.

The shape of his games has shifted. He farms more per minute, earns more gold per minute and deals more damage per minute than in 2025, but his KDA is down from last year’s 5.94 and he dies a little more often. His share of the team’s damage is roughly flat, a touch under the 27.7% he posted last season.

The biggest change is kill participation, which has dropped noticeably while his assists per game have gone up. Read together, the numbers describe a carry who spends more time on side waves and farm, then arrives for the decisive fights with more gold than before. He has also used a wider pool than the 20 champions he played in 2025.

Ruler champions and pro win rates

Jhin is the center of Ruler’s 2026 pool. It is his most played champion this year and the one with the best results on a real sample, which fits a player who likes long range, controlled damage and a low death count. Ezreal and Yunara follow as his next most played picks, both with healthy win rates, and Ashe gives Gen.G a utility carry when the draft calls for engage and vision.

Caitlyn stands out among the mid-sized picks with one of the best win rates in the pool on a sample of ten games, so she is a genuine weapon rather than a one-off. Sivir has worked on a small but usable sample, and her wave clear suits the side-lane farming the season stats point to.

The mage picks are the interesting part of the table. Corki and Ziggs give Gen.G magic damage from the bot lane, and Ziggs posts some of the highest damage per minute in the pool, which shows how much siege and poke value Ruler finds on him. Lucian and Xayah have been break-even this year, a sign that they are matchup picks rather than first-choice carries.

Seraphine, Varus and Kog’Maw are unbeaten in 2026, but each sits on fewer than five games, which is too small a sample to call them strong. Varus is the notable one: a career staple that has barely featured this year. You can compare these pro picks with solo queue data on our champion pages.

Pro builds on Jhin, Ezreal and Yunara

Ruler’s builds share one trait: every one of his top three champions runs Barrier and Flash. He takes the defensive Summoner spell over Heal or Cleanse on all of them, which matches his low death count and a playstyle built on surviving the first dive and carrying the fights that follow.

On Jhin he opens with Rapid Firecannon and Stormrazor, then adds Infinity Edge and Youmuu’s Ghostblade, with Mortal Reminder, Serpent’s Fang or Lord Dominik’s Regards as situational slots. Fleet Footwork is the Keystone, paired with Inspiration (Cosmic Insight and Triple Tonic), which favors lane sustain and safe poke over all-in damage. It is a build for picking enemies off from range before an objective, not for diving the backline.

His Ezreal is a spell-weaving build: Muramana and Trinity Force as the core, then Endless Hunger and Spear of Shojin, with Maw of Malmortius when the enemy has burst magic damage. Lethal Tempo with Jack Of All Trades rewards long fights and a varied item set. On Yunara he goes Kraken Slayer into Infinity Edge and Fiendhunter Bolts, adding Immortal Shieldbow for safety, again on Lethal Tempo but with Triumph in the Precision tree.

TipUsing Ruler's builds in solo queue

Copy the core items and the Barrier choice, then adjust the last slots to your game. Ruler’s situational picks such as Lord Dominik’s Regards or Maw of Malmortius come in only when the enemy team calls for them. Ruler’s LoL career from Samsung Galaxy to Gen.G

Ruler’s career runs from 2016 to today with only two organizations’ colors in Korea and one stint in China. He joined Samsung Galaxy on 25 May 2016 and reached a world final in his first year, finishing 2nd at Worlds 2016. A year later the same roster won Worlds 2017, the title that made his name.

The Samsung roster became KSV eSports and then Gen.G, and Ruler stayed from 16 January 2018 to 5 November 2022. That stretch brought domestic titles in LCK 2020 Spring and LCK 2022 Summer, plus final-four runs at Worlds 2021 and Worlds 2022.

On 14 January 2023 he moved to JD Gaming in the LPL. His first season there was one of the best years of his career: LPL 2023 Spring, both LPL playoff titles of 2023 and MSI 2023, before a 3rd–4th finish at Worlds 2023. His stint with JD Gaming ended on 30 August 2024.

He returned to Gen.G on 15 January 2025 and the results came at once: MSI 2025, the Esports World Cup 2025 and a full sweep of the LCK 2025 titles, followed by a 3rd–4th place at Worlds 2025. In 2026 he has added the LCK Cup, LCK Rounds 3–4 and the LCK 2026 Season Playoffs, along with 3rd–4th at First Stand 2026 and 3rd at the Esports World Cup 2026.

Achievements and titles

Worlds 2017 is the headline result, and it makes Ruler one of the few active bot laners with a world title. His two MSI wins, in 2023 with JD Gaming and in 2025 with Gen.G, show that he has won international trophies in two regions with two different rosters.

His Worlds record beyond 2017 is consistent but unfinished: a runner-up finish in 2016 and final-four exits in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2025. Domestically he has won titles in both the LCK and the LPL, and Gen.G’s 2025 and 2026 runs have made him the most reliable title-winning bot laner in Korea over that period.

Key takeawayWhat the trophy list says

Ruler’s results point to three traits.

  1. He wins across regions, with international titles for both Gen.G and JD Gaming.
  2. He reaches the late stages of Worlds almost every year he attends.
  3. Since returning to Gen.G in 2025, he has won the LCK in every split listed on his record.
