Saint LoL: Career, Champions and Worlds 2026

Saint is LYON’s South Korean mid laner, a Ryze, Viktor and Sylas specialist who turned a losing 2025 into a winning 2026 and heads to Worlds 2026 as North America #2.

Saint (Kang Sung-in, 강성인) is a South Korean mid laner who plays for LYON in North America. He is known for a deep control-mage pool built around Ryze and Viktor, with Sylas, Akali and LeBlanc as the aggressive answers when his team wants a playmaker in the middle of the map. Born on 1 January 2005, he spent 2026 as a starter on one of the LCS organizations that reached both international events and Worlds.

2026 season stats

Saint’s 2026 is a different season from his 2025 in every column that matters. He has played far more games, wins far more often and dies less per game, while taking a smaller share of his team’s damage. His 2025 ended with an 11–22 record, a 33.3% win rate on a small sample; 2026 is a winning year on a sample several times larger.

The shift in damage share and kill participation is the interesting part. In 2025 he carried 29.1% of his team’s damage, a heavy load on a losing roster. This year he takes a smaller slice and joins fewer of his team’s kills, which reads as a mid laner who no longer has to force every play. He farms slightly faster and places more vision per minute, so the drop in involvement comes with a cleaner, more stable game rather than a quieter one.

For you as a viewer, that profile is worth noting when you watch his games. Saint in 2026 is not the solo carry of last season; he is the mid laner who holds priority, survives and lets LYON’s sides and jungle play around him.

Saint champions: pool and pro win rates

Ryze is his most played champion this season, with Viktor right behind it, and both win at the same healthy rate. They are his default blind picks: scaling mages that hold lane, clear waves and give LYON a reliable teamfight threat. Sylas sits third and wins even more often, and he is the pick that turns Saint into the team’s primary damage dealer, with his kills per game noticeably higher than on the mages.

The best results on a real sample come from the assassins. Akali and LeBlanc both win well above his season average across more than a handful of games, and Annie has been a quiet success as a pocket pick. Yone is unbeaten across five games, but that is a small sample and the champion has not been seen since 24 May 2026, so treat it as a counter-pick rather than a staple. Cassiopeia is the one clear miss, with four losses in five games, and it has not returned since July.

The pool is also wider than in 2025. Saint has reached for more champions this year, including Taliyah, Orianna, Azir, Syndra, Galio and Aurora as situational answers. That breadth matters in best-of-five series, where opponents ban the obvious comfort picks and a mid laner needs four or five credible options to stay out of a bad draft.

Across his career, his signature champions are Azir, Sylas, Akali, Ahri and Viktor, with Azir the most played of all; older records also show a very successful run on mid lane Tristana, last played on 2 August 2024, and Corki from 2025.

TipWhat to copy from his pool

If you play mid in solo queue, Saint’s split is a useful template: one or two scaling mages you can blind pick, and one or two assassins you only lock in when the enemy has picked an immobile mage. You do not need 15 champions to climb, but you do need a safe pick and a punish pick.

Pro builds

His Ryze build is the classic mana-stacking route: Rod of Ages and Seraph’s Embrace in every game, then Actualizer and Chainlaced Crushers in most of them, with Zhonya’s Hourglass when he needs to survive a dive. The runes take Deathfire Touch from Sorcery with Resolve as the secondary tree, adding Second Wind and Overgrowth for a sturdier lane and more health late. The unusual detail is Ghost alongside Flash, which tells you he wants Ryze to run long fights and reposition repeatedly rather than rely on Teleport for side-lane plays.

On Viktor he goes Blackfire Torch first, then Zhonya’s Hourglass and Hextech Rocketbelt. Rocketbelt on a backline mage is a deliberate choice: it gives Viktor a gap closer to land his combo and a second escape after Zhonya’s. He again runs Deathfire Touch, this time with Legend: Haste and Cut Down, and takes Teleport so Viktor can join fights across the map.

Sylas is the outlier. Saint plays him as a bruiser on Conqueror from Precision, with Resolve for Bone Plating and Overgrowth, and builds Chainlaced Crushers, Hextech Rocketbelt and Zhonya’s Hourglass, with Riftmaker and Bloodletter’s Curse as the extended-fight options. That is a build for staying in a teamfight long enough to steal and recast enemy ultimates, not for one-shot burst.

Taken together, the builds point the same way: Saint values survivability and staying power over pure damage, which fits his lower death count this year. If you want to try these setups, check the latest patch notes first, since item and rune changes can shift which of these items is worth buying.

Career so far

Saint’s professional scoreboards stretch back to at least 2024, when mid lane Tristana was one of his most successful picks. His 2025 season was a hard one: a losing record on a small number of games, with him shouldering a large share of his team’s damage.

2026 is his breakout year with LYON. He played the LCS 2026 Spring split and playoffs, represented North America internationally at First Stand 2026 and MSI 2026, then returned for LCS 2026 Summer and its playoffs. Facing teams such as LOUD and G2 Esports on the international stage gave him experience that few North American mid laners collect in one season.
